Stalking by TV

Celebrity is the new royalty, and actors are the emperors of them all. Film actors often sweep us away with their romance, intensity and excitement; who didn’t fall in love with Jack Sparrow, man, woman or child? And TV regulars can feel as familiar and accessible as old friends, living out their dramas in your living room every week; who didn’t fall in love with Dr Doug Ross, man, woman or child?

Being starstruck can be embarrassing, frustrating and even expensive, but most of us contract these crushes at several stages throughout our lives - age is no barrier. As a child, it might be a burning love for a funny green frog called Kermit which means you have to have the lunchbox, the backpack, and see every Muppet movie and animation you can find on TV. As a teenager, the likes of Jessica Alba or Jamie Foxx rank highly - gorgeous, glamorous and beloved of gossip mags. As an adult, the obssessions can be more unexpected, but no less strong, as Philip Seymour Hoffman’s brilliant acting and characrterful face sudenly make him seem that bit more interesting than the obvious Brad Pitt.

Lee Penney of The Digerati Peninsula has been blogging about using LocateTV’s embeds to keep track of where and when your favourite actor is next on TV, and has realised that it’s ‘kind of like stalking by TV‘. Genius. And it’s great to see who people want to keep track of out there. James May, weatherbeaten presenter of the UK’S iconic Top Gear motor show, is no Daniel Craig, but he’s funny, curious and down-to-earth, and the brilliant James May Fansite have embedded LocateTV widgets as a permanent feature on the site so readers can catch his every appearance.
