Good news for online TV watchers

The increase in people watching TV and film online is old and hackneyed news by now, but that doesn’t make it any less true. Jeffro 2pt0 has been blogging about whether the LocateTV team would team up with Joost, the upshot of which is: it’s not a priority with all the larger providers we have to cover. You can read our conversation with him here.

The volume of our information about online programmes has always been one step behind the TV and DVD content - not just because the stuff showing on your telly is, despite the hype, still what people search for most, but also because the world of downloads is changing very quickly. Many online providers are themselves only just getting their service and offerings sorted and have never thought about how people will find their content, which makes our task a lot harder.

The good news, however, is that by next week we should have all the main online content providers’ data live on LocateTV. In the UK this means BBC iPlayer, ITV.com and 4 On Demand as well as our current offerings for five. In the US we already have AOL, Amazon Unbox and (legal) BitTorrent, but you’ll find iTunes on there too. UK iTunes will follow in due course.

From the LocateTV site to TV content in one click; you’ll never even have to move onto the sofa. We like to feel we’re doing our bit for the planet and helping people save energy, worldwide.
