From Arnie to Mowgli: you’re a cool bunch

Never let it be said that LocateTV users are a predicatble lot. A quick look at the most common TV shows, films and actors that you’re searching for on the site throws up some interesting surprises.

The TV programmes are pretty standard, with the current top five searches today being The Office, Heroes, House, Scrubs and Spooks. Classic comedy, cult superhero action and medical drama - you’d expect plenty of people to want to know when and where they can next see these series on TV, online and on DVD.

The actors are a little less obvious. Hugh Laurie tops the list, which fits with the popularity of House (and surely the number of wise souls wanting to see where they can buy the box set of Blackadder). George Clooney and David Tennant, in at 4 and 5, are equally predictable - Mr Smooth and Doctor Who. However, no.2 Paul McGann’s a big surprise, and the high volume of searches for this Irish charcter actor reflect that it’s the Brits who have been particularly active on Locate today. And Sharon Stone at no.3? Are people trying to obliterate the memory of Basic Instinct 2 by watching her older and better movies?

However, it’s the most popular movie searches that reflect what an open-minded lot LocateTV users are. How’s this for a random, genre-bending top 5: the teen cheese of High School Musical 2, eighties action of The Terminator, epic adventure of Lawrence of Arabia, and the cult Orwellian satire of Brazil.

Respect, people. Respect.
