Feel the love

It seems obvious that to produce a great service, you should begin by asking the people who are going to use it what they want.

This has always been one of our leading principles in evolving LocateTV, but in all honesty we did not realise quite how effective and even enjoyable a way of working it would prove to be. We always knew that the web was teeming with knowledge and creativity and that it would be a ridiculous waste not to seek this out - but the sheer generosity and enthusiasm of our testers has been a fantastic surprise.

Which is why it was great to see Jeffro 2pt0’s opinion in his recent blog post about the new embed designs we’re asking our triallists to comment on:

Jeffro2pt0

We can’t say it better than that. Thanks for all the detailed, imaginative comments coming in about the embed designs, and we’ll keep you updated on any new solutions as Rob designs them.

Big you all up, as the kids on the street say.

  1. Other than being an online company, I think alot of it has to do with the attitude of the company employees as well as the size of the company. Web 2.0 sites and services along with new software has given INDIVIDUALS the power to create something that rivals that of a large corporation.

Combine that power with 2-5 individuals and you could have one hell of a team. Use the internet for feedback and because the size of the company is small, generally, you can change things at a moments notice, appeasing your customer base while large corporations simply ignore their customers.

I think I’m just pointing out the obvious, but listening to your customer base and than changing your product or service on the fly based on that feedback will usually net you a better product/service to sell to other customers. It also gives users the feeling as if they themselves, are helping to shape the company.

  2. Amen. And it quite simple Works Better I think. Some companies are in danger of not realising the ‘consumer power’ that the web forefronts… and that this is a Good thing, leading to more transparency, flexibillity and authenticity, rather than some kind of scary undermining of traditional business. Which is probably a Good thing anyway.

  3. [...] Who kows, maybe LocateTV will help the fledging filmmakers to find the inspiration for their masterwork. We certainly agree with the democratic approach that respects and celebrates talent across the net, and it is something we’ve tried to stand by too. [...]
