Embed evolution
So, we have a compromise. Thanks to all the feedback from our private beta triallists we’ve come up with an embed design mark 2 which seems to accommodate the majority of the comments we’ve received: simpler, smaller and less prominently branded with darker colours. Of course it’s not perfect, and this isn’t the absolute finished product, but we hope it’s pointing in the right direction.

As for widgets fully customisable to CSS sheets for personal sites and blogs - well, it’s something we’re looking at for the future, but due to the technical challenges and inconsistencies with different blog designs (for example, not all of them even use CSS) this is an additional feature which is on the roadmap, but that isn’t a priority for launch. We’re still focusing our resources on making the search facility richer and more user-friendly (should be some exciting developments there for you tomorrow) and the data coverage as extensive as possible, so you can find where and when all the TV and film content you want to watch is available for your region quickly and easily.
However, it should be reiterated that we will revisit embed designs on a regular basis. It is essential that they are easy and attractive enough to be used every day by bloggers and website owners, and as soon as the site is open we will be tracking experiences and opinions of the embeds and altering things accordingly. We hope we’ve found a good place to start, but we will always be adapting to how you are using them, so keep telling us your thoughts.
Lottie
