Is the cinema obsolete?

For some, cinema is the only way to really appreciate a movie. Whether it’s the massive screen, the audience atmosphere, the sense of occasion or just the stale popcorn, the box office is still big business.
However, the very popularity of LocateTV is a reflection that people are less willing to be bound by the unreliable, [...]

The globalisation of scheduling

The era of the Bush/Blair love-in may seem but a distant memory, but The Emmys were proof that transatlantic ties hold strong, with Brits Ricky Gervais and Helen Mirren both scooping prizes at the US awards show this week.
Less surprising was the dominance of The Sopranos, garnering awards for oustanding drama, best writing and best [...]

DVDs: director’s cut or bargain basement?

Health warning: the DVD price comparison feature on LocateTV can seriously raise your blood pressure. There are few things more irritating than realising that the Rome Season One box set you bought last week (life just ain’t the same without all that sex, blood and brawn) from the BBC website at £36.49 could have been [...]

The future of TV: are you excited or confused?

The eminent meeja guru David Lieberman has posted an article about the rebranding of US cable networks at USA Today.
As the cable TV market gets increasingly crowded, David reports on how channels desperate to secure a memorable identity are renaming and repositioning themselves to better identify with their viewers and clarify their brand. In many [...]

We built this city on rocks and linoleum roll

Now, our development team are an incredibly glamorous bunch. When not slaving day and night to fix every glitch and deeply consider every fragment of feedback thrown to them by our private beta testers, they love to sling on a sharp suit, watch an old cult movie in an arthouse cinema, and then dance the [...]

I found the time to watch Die Hard 4.0 recently and have felt surprisingly motivated ever since. I really enjoyed the non-stop action antics of Bruce Willis and found the hacker theme throughout perfectly suited to my, ahem, geekier sensibilities. Perfect casting of Justin Long as the expert hacktivist — he definitely brought along the [...]

Robs: we know them

Just to clear up any confusion from yesterday’s post - in all my enthusiastic naivity I failed to realise that Rob May and Rob Fisher are both working on LocateTV… as the hero of certain recently released film would put it, D’oh.
Transparency is very important to us, so I wanted to flag that up. [...]

Friendly advice…

There have been a number of incidences of visitors entering search terms into the email submission form, while this is great that we get such a quality insight into what terms you guys and gals will be looking up once we launch, it would be rather more beneficial for you all if you just gave [...]

Milking it

The problem with spell checkers in email clients is that you can find yourself becoming overly trusting of them and automatically accept changes without really looking at the words.
I am finding this especially dangerous when writing about ‘LocateTV’. A small typing mistake and automatically clicking accept leads to you sending emails about ‘LactateTV’.
