Warning: LocateTV may have unexpected consequences. My daughter searched for, found and then sky+’ed Miss World the other day, finding it playing on Challenge TV. She has become worryingly engrossed. I’ve told her she could watch it on the sole condition that she sets her sights higher than the contestants.

In the early days we had to demo the site to the project sponsors and other senior people before any results prioritization was implemented. It’s a pretty nerve-wracking process - exposing what had heretofore been our ‘baby’ to the cold eye of commercial scrutiny. Thankfully it seemed to be going really well - we’d all [...]

News of the upcoming production of a second X-Files film has plunged me into a nostalgic reverie – I was a serious fan back in the day. How pleased I was when my mate told me it was also returning to TV, presumably as a nice bit of tie-in publicity. About as disappointed as I [...]

The problem with spell checkers in email clients is that you can find yourself becoming overly trusting of them and automatically accept changes without really looking at the words.
I am finding this especially dangerous when writing about ‘LocateTV’. A small typing mistake and automatically clicking accept leads to you sending emails about ‘LactateTV’.

Whilst fixing a bug late one evening I noticed that a Star Trek 30 year anniversary special was on (I normally use ST as a test show). Unfortunately it was scheduled as showing that very evening from 21:00 and it was already 21:50. Scooted over to the living room and caught the last five minutes. [...]

Will LocateTV become the Google of TV? Perhaps if we strip away the billions of dollars of income, and the way the very name of the company has become synonymous with its function to an extent almost unimaginable in the heady days of web 0.5, we might stand a chance of justifying such a bold [...]

He was the boy from Flight of the Navigator, that slice of 80s cinematic beauty that figured large in my childhood. I really fancied him. Slightly less than Corey Feldman in Stand By Me, but after Corey turned to drugs and debauchery he slipped down my ranking system.
Does anyone know where he is? Did he [...]

Today I stumbled across In The Best Possible Taste, ‘a celebration of film and TV nudity’ and was really impressed by this guy’s knowledge and dedication. He ranges across genres from UK period drama TV to US 70s cult classic horror films with a nice line in witty, low-key commentary.
Amazingly, he actually posts detailed listings [...]

I suggested the name LocateTV during a fifteen minute brainstorm, and it stood out as an obvious working title for the project. After time it just stuck, and no one has come up with anything better. We simply aim to do what it says in the name/tin/URL.

I just ran through the LocateTV site with a colleague of mine not involved in the project. It was great to see his genuine enthusiasm as he understood how he could use it to help find and recommend TV content he is passionate about.
He asked about where we get our information from and I [...]
